Bon Voyage

Dear Universe,

It’s funny how things you ask for sometimes have a magical way of all working out when you least expect it.

I had time off this summer and what I really wanted to do with it was travel.  I had other things I wanted to get done and to accomplish, but traveling was on top of the list.  (No surprise there, I guess).

About a week ago I just resigned myself to the fact that travel wasn’t in the cards this summer and I was okay with that.  After all, anytime I need a quick getaway, I can simply head to the beach.  And I do have plenty of things to keep me busy here at home.

I even put away my passport.

But all of a sudden, opportunities and trips were coming at me.  And what can I say?  I just couldn’t refuse.

The thing is I’ve always loved traveling.  The idea that the world is so vast and there are so many places to see, to explore and to experience invigorates and inspires me.  Through the years I have been fortunate enough to globetrot to places like Greece, Turkey, Spain, Thailand…

But lately, traveling has become more to me.  There’s a different feeling it gives me and I believe I’ve figured out what it is.

I was thinking about how for so long I felt “stuck.”  Stuck in one place, stuck in life, stuck in the past, not moving onto my future.  Since that phase seems to have passed, maybe that’s why I just want to take off and fly whenever I get the chance.  What better way to feel free?

It seems like something I need to do right now.  And I’ve realized I spend a lot of time (too much time) looking for ways to explain myself to everyone around me—maybe it makes me happy is reason enough.

So this week starts off some travel adventures.  I’m beyond excited and grateful.  I hope that my travels are safe, fun, relaxing and enlightening.  A couple of unexpected, awe-inspiring moments are always appreciated too.

(And yes, this photo is a hint to one of the places I’ll be going!)

I feel so blessed and fortunate to be able to do these trips.  So I want to thank you now, Universe, and I’m sure I’ll continue to do so over the next several weeks.  🙂

Much Gratitude,

A
