I love special occasions—especially when they are for other people. Whether it’s birthdays, graduations, babies being born, a new job… I love celebrating in the joys of life.
When something good happens, I feel strongly that we must recognize the moment, give gratitude, and yes, have a toast to share the good cheer.
One of the reasons it’s important to recognize the highs is because when the lows happen, we tend to forget how much we have to be grateful for.
But what about the moments in between?
I think some of us may have this all wrong. Yes, some moments hold more significance than others, but really?
Life is a special occasion.
Every day is a gift. Some days we may not like what we are given as much as others, but each day is time we are gifted. Time with our loved ones, time to make a difference, time to work towards something we want, time to try something new, time to see something new.
Time to just breathe it all in and live.
We often wait to wear the new outift, tell someone how we feel, dance the night away, eat at our favorite restaurant, enjoy time with the ones we love, or pop that bottle of champagne until it’s the special occasion.
But we shouldn’t wait.
We should treat each day as if it’s the special occasion we’ve been waiting for because…it is.
So, go ahead. Carpe diem—seize the day! Tell the ones you love, that you do. Read the book that you’ve always wanted to. Pop that champagne bottle, and break out the good glasses to pour them in.
Really, what are you waiting for?
I hope everyone has a meaningful, memorable and happy day. Make it a priority and before you know it all the days ahead will be more special than all the days behind.
