Dear Universe,

Sometimes we all feel a little well, lost.

In those times in my life I have often found myself wishing and hoping for someone, something, to tell me what to do.  It would be so much easier for the decision to be made for me.

Unfortunately, life doesn’t come with a compass to point us in the right direction.  And in times of confusion it can seem difficult to separate the voice of our intuition from the voice in our head—which is filled with all kinds of discouraging thoughts.

So instead, I find myself wandering, thinking, worrying, supposing, analyzing, strategizing and fretting before I make a decision.  I’m so scared to make a wrong move, that I often paralyze myself until finally I have no other choice, except to make one.

It’s odd since I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason.  I believe that there are no such things as mistakes, only lessons.  I believe that everything we do, every relationship we have, serves a purpose and leads us in a natural progression on our journey.

So when I find myself stuck or frozen in place, I try to remind myself that there is no wrong move.  In fact, the only wrong move would be not making one.

compassPicking a direction, any direction, and taking a step forward can often be the scariest thing.  It can also be the most liberating thing.  To feel like you are taking control and making progress can be freeing, like the weights that have held you down have finally been removed.

And there is no rule saying how fast you have to go.  Pick your speed.  If it’s easier to stroll, then stroll.  If speed-walking, jogging or sprinting are more your pacing, then do that.

Here’s the best part.  If you take a few steps and don’t like where you are going, you can always turn around.  You can swivel a little to the right or the left and slide, shimmy or cha-cha that way for a while.

The way I see it is this.  Staying still will get you nowhere new.  Being brave enough to move can get you anywhere.  The possibilities are endless.  Let the excitement of what’s waiting ahead override your fears and worries.

Whatever you decide, wherever you go, just be sure to pay attention to the signs along the way.  Because eventually?  Your intuition will ache to be heard over the voices whispering in your head.

And you will hear it.

With Gratitude,

A
