It’s become a tradition that when I’m in London I head to the West End to catch a show.
The first time I came, I attended “Dirty Dancing.” Though no one can top Baby or Johnny in my mind, it was still worth seeing and the music did make you want to get up, dance and get Baby out of the corner. The next time I came I got to see “Ghost”—absolutely incredible.

This time there weren’t any favorite movie adaptations for me to check out so I wasn’t sure what I wanted to see. But when I noticed “The Lion King” was playing, my mind was set. So many people have told me that this show cannot be missed. When I scored a cheap ticket for a mid-week matinee, I was even more excited.
As I am not quite sure how to describe this experience and give it justice, let me just paint a quick picture.
Curtains up, stage transformed into an African safari, cue in the music for “Circle of Life.”
Performers: Stilt-walking, somersaulting, swinging, singing, dancing, jumping, leaping, pouncing, flying… visually stunning.
Me: Jaw-dropping, heart pounding, arms goosebumping, spine tingling, eyes widening.
Music: Drum beating, ground shaking, soul-stirring.
Audience: Screaming, gasping, hollering, cheering, whooping, yelling.
And since all of this was literally in the first three minutes of the show I knew I was in for a thrill ride for the next three hours. The show did not disappoint. It was astonishing at every moment and truly defined what a show should be like—overwhelming to the senses—and memorable in most unforgettable way.
Also, the show was in Covent Garden. How have I never been to this area before? I fell in love with the cobbled streets, the quaint shops, the street performers, the outdoor restaurants and the original artwork and jewelry being sold. It was the perfect weather to walk around and enjoy too. So walk around I did—for hours. I will definitely be returning there.
Thank you for an incredible day. It may have even topped the trip as my favorite day here… so far.
Much Gratitude,
A
