Don’t Dream It’s Over

“There’s a battle ahead
Many battles are lost
But you’ll never see the end of the road
While you’re traveling with me

Hey now, hey now
Don’t dream it’s over
Hey now, hey now
When the world comes in
They come, they come
To build a wall between us
We know they won’t win…”

Dear Universe,

The other day I was out for a walk with my little love—my three-year-old son.

His joy for the simple things always grounds me in the present. Through him, I remember what it’s like to be happy for no reason except being alive—the best reason there is.

As we walked, we came across an ancient tree whose bark was easily the size of three or four of me put together.

He wanted to climb it, to sit in it.

That’s when he spotted this stone resting in between branches.

Dream.

I laughed. Usually it’s my job to spot the Universe leaving messages and little signs. Maybe I am passing down the mindful gene to him. That makes me happy.

He wanted to take it, not understanding that this stone had been placed for a reason. It is meant to sit there and greet those who notice.

It is meant to inspire, to be a reminder that it’s our job to dream. It’s our job to believe in our dreams. It’s our duty to believe our dreams are happening.

It’s our responsibility to know we are worthy of our dreams.

We left the stone behind.

I knew the message was meant for me as a reminder. It seems this past year—like so many of us—I have felt like dreams are inconsequential. Surviving this unusual time was the main purpose.

But maybe, it’s time to dream again. Maybe it’s time to dust off our imagination, and let our deepest wishes rise to the surface once more.

Maybe it’s time to believe our dreams are within reach, waiting for us to simply recognize the signs calling us awake again.

“If the dream is within you, it is for you.” ~Amber Lileystrom

Don’t stop dreaming. The best is just beginning.

Are you ready to climb up and reach for it?

With Gratitude,
