When I received an email with this picture attached, I laughed. There it was: the DeLorean screen from Back to the Future II.
I thought, funny how time works. When I watched the movie as a kid, the future seemed so far away. Yet, here it is. And I’m still waiting for a hoverboard.
But something bothered me about the picture too. Didn’t I just see this movie and write about it? Wouldn’t I have noticed if the date was so imminent?
I shrugged it off. After all, I am older than I used to be.
But then I heard a couple of days later that it was all a hoax! The date had been tampered with! Who would do that, I wondered. It also made me laugh, though. Apparently I am not the only one with an obsession (a slight one) with the future and this film.
So when’s the real date? October 21, 2015.
(Here’s my picture to prove it.)
Not sure what will actually happen when that day arrives or what it could mean, except that a day that seemed so far off into the future back in 1989 wasn’t really after all. Time does fly, time machine or not.
Thanks for the reminder. It’s nice to get a lighthearted wink every now and then.
With Gratitude,
A
