Dear Universe,
Unless you’ve been hiding underground, there is no way you could have missed that today we are going to experience a solar eclipse.
Now, I know for a lot of people this is a big deal. After all, here in the United States, we haven’t seen a solar eclipse since 1979. It’s also the first solar eclipse to cross coast to coast in the United States in 99 years.
All around me people are buzzing about where to watch the eclipse, and where to get those darn glasses that seem to be sold out everywhere.
And while the buzz certainly has me buzzing, it also has me curious.
What exactly does a solar eclipse mean on a spiritual level?
Here’s what I’ve found:
- Some believe… Eclipses signify a time of rapid change.
What does this mean for you? Use the eclipse as a way to reflect on your own life. You could ask yourself if there’s anything you would like to change right now. What ways are you awakening to your innate truth and intuition? Use the energy of the solar eclipse to jumpstart the change you are seeking. Don’t be surprised if one tiny step on your part, leads to a quick and massive shift.
- Some believe… Eclipses are not good omens. After all, darkness overshadows light. On a more spiritual level this could mean your inner demons are surfacing and outweighing your better sense. It could also mean we feel like we are in the dark regarding a personal situation. The good news? The darkness is only temporary. The light will shine again.
What does this mean for you? You may want to meditate on areas of your life you would like more clarity or illumination in. What parts of your life have you been keeping yourself in the dark about? How can you bring forth more light and truth to this situation or your perspective? If you feel tempted to lash out in anger or make a decision fueled by frustration, try to wait it out. Think of ways can you be the light in a dark time and stand your ground rooted in love.
- Some believe… Eclipses are a time of great energy.
What does this mean for you? Use the energy created by the eclipse to your advantage. You can charge your crystals, and set new intentions for yourself. Ask what would you like to leave behind in the darkness. What are your deepest wishes for this new start? Write down what you would like to leave behind, and then burn your list during the darkness. Think of the light returning as a fresh chance to begin again. As the light breaks, focus on your dreams, wishes and new intentions.
Finally, trust your instinct. Find what resonates with you and use your inner wisdom to create a ritual that feels good to you.
Solar eclipses like this don’t happen too often in our lives. So why not make the most of this magical occurrence?
