The Bridge of the in Between

“Do not be afraid of building and crossing bridges for they connect us from where we are, to where we long to go.”

Dear Universe,

Does anyone else feel like they are stuck in between worlds? Life pre-COVID and life post-COVID?

Some days feel like some sort of purgatory. It’s this strange new world we are living in. Things we once regarded as normal, and didn’t give much thought to—like eating at a restaurant, or just hugging a loved one—have taken on a whole new meaning. These times are creating a sense of anxiety, worry, frustration and stress for so many of us.

Long-held routines and familiar rituals have been stripped from our lives. Dreams have been put on hold. And we’ve had to push ourselves to be more innovative, more optimistic, more patient, and more flexible than ever before.

Someone told me the other day that she just feels like she is floating around—no sense of grounding or stability. Another friend told me she feels like she is in what can only be described as a COVID-funk. And I’ve talked to quite a few others who just want things to go back to the way they were.

But maybe they’re not supposed to.

Anytime we are put in a place of discomfort, a place that challenges us to stretch and grow in ways we never saw coming, I think it’s important to question what we can learn from it or what it might mean for the bigger scope of our lives.

The in between can be a beautiful blessing—a pause—giving you permission to take a deep breath and to reevaluate your path.

Maybe this strange in between time is a chance for us to build the foundation to a stronger, better, brighter life on the other side of this. Maybe we need to get crystal clear on how we want to feel, what we want to be doing, who is around us, and where we want to be.

Maybe right now we are all standing in the middle of a bridge and it’s up to us to decide if we want to go back to the old or to cross over to the new.

What does your new, ideal world look like?

It’s okay to hold onto what’s working, but it’s also okay to reach for more. Give yourself permission to live the fullest, happiest, most magical, love-filled, and fulfilling life. What are you waiting for, sweet souls? If not now, when?

“Construct the bridge that connects your dreams to reality.” ~Daisaku Ikeda

Maybe something good can come from this indescribable time. Maybe something life altering can appear despite the desperation, illness, loss and sadness. Maybe something magical will rise up from the fear and the fog.

Maybe it will be you.

With Gratitude,
