“Happiness should be provided to every person in the world, no matter what.”

Dear Universe,

Today there are two things we should all be smiling about.

1.  It’s finally, and I mean finally, spring!

2.  It’s the International Day of Happiness.

So what does that mean for us?

Well one, it means we can rejoice knowing warmer weather is upon us.  Soon the leaves will be on the trees and the flowers will be in full bloom.  It means we can leave the house without winter jackets, layers of clothes, scarves, hats and gloves.  There’s nothing wrong with winter, but I think we are all ready to bid a farewell to the polar vortex and embrace spring!

And two, today is a reminder to do more of what makes us happy.  We often think our emotions rule us, rather than the other way around.  Today let’s remember that happiness comes from within, that we have more control than we often acknowledge for our own joy.  And it’s a day to do our part to ensure that others are happy too.

So start your day with a smile and be sure to pass it along.  Volunteer your time for someone who needs it.  If that’s too much of a commitment just think of someone who needs a little bit of happiness.  As we know, tiny acts can go a long way.

Take a couple of minutes to send some love, an inspirational message, a joke or a funny picture.  You can even send a song.  Pharell Williams “Happy” seems like the perfect choice.  How can you not smile and sing along when you hear that?
